At 20%, you have a 1/5 chance of taking 5 less damage, whereas with a -2 in stance/enchanted shield, you will take a total -10 damage from 5 attacks.

It's good if you get it tagged to another damage reduction mod.

While Hexed mod is terrible? Then why was the Denravi Helm ever useful at all? You're almost ALWAYS hexed.

It's worse than the conditional -damage reduction, and Victo's Bulwark / a -2/-2 is still the best shield depending on your purposes. However, a lot of players are terrible at math and *love* procs, so I'm sure this is going to be popular.

Peace,

ohhh the number of possible stat combinations on random gold/purple shield has been improved greatly. mb this is the answer to the extremely high demand for -2/-2 shields, but lots of warrior builds're going to benefit from the change...

and of cos maxed new shield (-5/20%) is going to cost alot

I would think a -5(20%)/-2 (enchanted) is better than -2/-2 for someone who doesn't use stances, right?

Agree. The 20% chance refers to every single hit you take.
Any1 who used a caster with a 20/20 or just 20% (recharge or cast) knows how this works.

So... plain and simple. Regrding the post that stated that the -5 (20% chance) gives an average of -1 / hit is wrong.
You can get 0 average reduction in 5 hits, but you can get -25 if you're lucky. Now, if you extend it to 100 hits or 1000 hits, you might get the -1 average

hmm let me think, because you use it when you are Running. The HOD helm isn't even that good anymore because its now 20% reduction. If you think hexed is better than enchanted or while stanced, then that is sad.

I love how people can't discuss anything without losing their temper the way you do. No, I dont run. And there is no "better" anything. It all depends on your build.

If you dont use enchantments or stances then you're left with the hexed shield as your best option. Now, almost every good warrior uses stances.... but there's also a use for having that extra 60HP for when you're hexed. I sure dont need to have extra HP whenever I'm in stance. I mostly get hexed to death as a warrior so that +60 is a bit of a help.

Just because you don't have a use for it doesnt mean others dont have a use for it. Such narrow minded thinking you have.

Well the chance of having 5 hits in a row being reduced by -5 is 0.00032, on a average you will expect it to have -1 damage reduction.

So it is right that you can expect -1 damage reduction per hit on average if you divide the per hits with the damage reduced

Pretty sure those don't exist, those two mods are part of the same 'pool' for whatever reason. You can only get -2 enchanted/-2 stance and -2 enchanted/-3 hexed.

If you don't use a stance or enchantment just take an unconditional shield. Only time I'd use a while hexed shield is if I was playing PvE and was choosing the mobs I'm fighting very carefully. It's kinda interesting as a shield to swap to but certainly not as a main.

Peace,
-CxE

Of course. It's the same reason I have a blind reduction shield as well. I'd never use the blind reduction shield as my main either, only when blinded of course. My beef was with the guy who couldnt see that it can have a purpose.

Actually -2 ench/-3 hex is the one that doesn't exist, I have a -2 stance/-3 hex right here.

Hence he said 'depending on your purposes'.
